Frances, a Unique Boutique
Every time I travel to Phoenix I make a point of stopping by Frances; my absolute favorite, one-of-a-kind, ‘modern boutique with a vintage charm’. In fact, my sister and I have been regularly supporting this small business ever since it opened in 2006. I can always find a unique treasure in this super cool shop and the customer service is amazing!
Shopping at Frances is always an adventure. When I walk in the door, there’s always a dazzling array of items which beg for my undivided attention. The hardest part for me is to make it out of there without spending all of my time and disposable income. You can find a creative selection of paper goods, jewelry, accessories, vintage wares, women’s, men’s and baby clothing,
a nice selection of Arizona souvenirs. Now Walgreens and the airport gift shop doesn’t have to be your only option; especially if you happen to be an Arizona State University student looking for a unique gift to send back home. Just sayin’!
Georganne Bryant, the owner, collaborates with other local businesses and has organized a must-see yearly event, ‘Frances Crafeteria’, to support independent crafters and artists. Moreover, this small business has been “voted ‘Best Boutique’ by Phoenix New Times since 2006.” – The Frances Story.
I feel very strongly about supporting small local businesses. According to Maria Contreras-Sweet, SBA Administrator,
small businesses created nearly 2 million of the roughly 3 million private-sector jobs generated in 2014. More than 7 million of the 11 million jobs created during our recovery have been generated by startups and small enterprises” (January, 2015).
